The tents

What is included in an ARMIS safari tent?

Our structure package covers the RIPTECH 400 canvas, weatherproofing, mesh and detailing, plus the zinc-plated steel frame, anchors and roof support. From there you can add a raised deck, modular add-on rooms, folding glass doors, interiors and furniture for a complete, guest-ready suite. Your written quotation lists exactly what is included for your project.

How big is the ARMIS Safari Suite?

The base tent measures 5,462 mm wide × 5,262 mm deep × 3,508 mm high, giving 28.74 m² of interior floor space. The optional front deck adds 14.93 m² (5,462 × 2,731 mm), and each modular add-on room adds 7.46 m².

What canvas and frame materials do you use?

ARMIS safari tents use heavy-duty RIPTECH 400 canvas, available in different colours, on a modular steel structure: 100 × 100 × 3 mm square-tube posts, 42.8 × 2 mm round-tube roof trusses and a 50 × 50 × 3 mm square-tube deck frame. All steel parts are zinc-plated with a yellow passivation, which makes them extremely weatherproof with a good-looking finish. A shade-cloth tropical roof protects the tent roof, and the deck can be finished with different types of decking and flooring.

What is a tropical roof?

The tropical roof is the top roof over an ARMIS tent. It is made of an extremely strong shade cloth that is 100% waterproof, with an 80% shade factor to keep heat away from the tent roof and a 92% UV block factor to make it last longer. The manufacturer gives the fabric an 8+ year life expectancy, and it is cheap and easy to replace.

How do ARMIS tents handle wind and rain?

The ARMIS structure has been tested in all kinds of weather, including wind and rain, and handles most weather conditions with ease. Every steel part is zinc-plated with a yellow passivation for weather resistance. Please note that the structure has not been tested in heavy snow conditions.

Can a safari tent include a private bathroom or kitchen?

Yes. Modular 7.46 m² add-on rooms can be used as an en-suite bathroom, kitchen, kids' room, store room or utility room. The final layout, waterproofing and service connections are confirmed for your selected design and site.

Can I choose folding glass doors or Moroccan-style interiors?

Yes. A Vista stack folding-door frontage and Moroccan-inspired or classic safari interiors are available as options. Ask us to confirm suitability, specification and price for your tent, and we will include your selections in the quotation.

Can I add rooms or a deck later?

Yes. ARMIS tents are modular, so a deck, bathroom, kitchen or extra room can be planned from day one or added in a later phase, subject to your site and available services.

Projects & planning

Do you supply complete tented lodges and staff accommodation?

Yes. We can plan multiple units for a tented camp, eco-lodge or workforce village, including twin-room tents with private entrances, room partitions, lockable doors, lighting, fans and air-conditioning. Include the number of units, rooms and intended use in your enquiry.

Do safari tents need heavy foundations?

No. ARMIS tents are a semi-permanent, modular structure on a raised, zinc-plated steel platform, so there is little to no earthworks on your site and no need for heavy building work or extensive foundations. The structure is built as strong as a permanent installation, yet it can be relocated if necessary. The anchoring and footing detail is confirmed after we assess your site.

Can an ARMIS tent be relocated?

Yes. The ARMIS structure is a semi-permanent installation: it is built as strong as a permanent installation, but because every part is modular and pre-manufactured, it can be taken down and relocated if necessary.

Is a glamping tent a good way to start a lodge business?

Many landowners start with one premium unit, prove demand, then add suites as occupancy grows. Because ARMIS tents are modular, you can expand in stages without the cost and disruption of traditional construction. We are happy to help you plan a phased development.

Do I need dimensions or a budget before I enquire?

No. Share what you know — your site location, the number of units and the experience you want to create — and we will help you shape the rest. Photos or plans of the site are helpful if you have them.

Cost, timing & care

How much does a safari tent cost?

The cost depends on the structure, dimensions, site work and the add-ons you choose — a structure-only tent is priced very differently from a turnkey, furnished suite. Send us your project brief and we will prepare a quotation with clearly stated inclusions and exclusions.

How long does delivery and installation take?

ARMIS installations are by far the fastest in the South African market: every part is pre-manufactured in a controlled environment, and little to no earthworks are needed on site, so you can turn your investment into income very quickly. Your exact programme is confirmed in your accepted quotation and depends on the final design, your selections, site readiness and the agreed installation scope.

What maintenance and warranty apply?

ARMIS steel parts are zinc-plated with a yellow passivation for weather resistance, and the manufacturer gives the tropical-roof shade cloth an 8+ year life expectancy; it is also cheap and easy to replace. Ask us for the care instructions and written warranty terms that apply to the canvas, frame, doors, deck and fittings in your selected scope, so you know exactly how to look after your tent.
